This section will assist you with locating resources in San Diego County to help teens and young adults stay physically healthy, such as general medical services, reproductive health services, hospitals and emergency medical care services, and dental services.

Palomar Medical Center

The 740,000-foot 11-story hospital facility opened in 2012. The medical center features 288 private single-patient rooms, 44 emergency and trauma rooms and 11 operating rooms.

Pomerado Hospital

Pomerado is a 107-bed acute care facility which features the adjacent 129-bed Villa Pomerado Convalescent Care Center. The hospital is licensed by the California Department of Health and accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).

Tri-City Medical Center

Located in the city of Oceanside, Tri-City Medical Center is a Gold Seal-approved, full-service, acute-care hospital with two advanced clinical institutes for cardiovascular and orthopaedic care.

Scripps Mercy Hospital Chula Vista

Scripps Mercy Hospital Chula Vista offers 24-hour emergency care, intensive care services and a Level II neonatal intensive care unit that provides short-stay intensive care for babies. We also feature the latest in imaging and heart care technology. Scripps Mercy in Chula Vista offers outpatient physical rehabilitation services and outpatient imaging.

Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego

Scripps Mercy Hospital, San Diego, is the county’s longest established medical center. At our San Diego campus, we offer all levels of care from routine check-ups and primary care to a wide range of specialty services, including a Level I trauma center, minimally invasive robotic surgery program, 24-hour emergency care, acute medical and surgical services, perinatal care and one of San Diego’s only chest pain centers.

Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla

Established in 1924 by Ellen Browning Scripps, Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla has been one of Southern California’s premier medical centers for more than 80 years. In 1964, Scripps La Jolla moved from downtown La Jolla to its 43-acre site east of Interstate 5. Today the hospital provides care for more than 130,000 patients each year, and is equipped with 312 licensed beds, has more than 2,200 employees and approximately 800 affiliated physicians. Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla offers a wide range of medical and surgical services including a Level II Trauma Center and 24-hour emergency services, intensive care, interventional cardiology and radiology, radiation oncology, cancer care, cardiothoracic and orthopedic services, neurology, bariatric surgery and women’s health services.

Sharp Grossmont Hospital

Sharp Grossmont Hospital, located in La Mesa, is the largest health care facility in East San Diego County and is known for outstanding programs in heart care, orthopedics, rehabilitation, robotic surgery, stroke care and women’s health. The emergency room is one of the nation’s most technologically advanced intensive care and emergency facilities.

UCSD Thornton Hospital and Sulpizio Cardiovascular Center

Emergency services in La Jolla are located in the Sulpizio Cardiovascular Center, a comprehensive heart center and certified primary stroke center, which is located next to Thornton Hospital. The emergency department in La Jolla offers a broad range of acute care and specialty consultation.

UC San Diego Hillcrest Medical Center offers comprehensive emergency care and operates the region’s first Level I Trauma Center, which treats the highest level of critical injury.
