How to Refer

The Center offers a full continuum of mental health treatment, whether the youth is seeking treatment for the first time or needing a more intensive level of care.

With two clinic locations in central San Diego and telehealth options, our highly trained and trauma-informed therapists are available to meet with children ages 4-18 and their parents and caregivers. We take a family-centered approach to treatment and offer many different types of therapy, including individual, family, and group therapy, as well as psychological testing and assessment and Parent/Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). We treat problems such as family conflict, mood instability, problems in school, and behavioral issues.

IOP is a good treatment option to transition from a hospitalization, PHP, or a residential program. We provide teens and families with high intensity, positive interventions that promote healthy development and improved daily functioning.

The Partial Hospitalization Program provides an intensive, therapeutic environment for youth ages 13 to 18, Monday through Friday from 9:00-3:30PM. This program can be a “step-down” service following inpatient care but can also be an alternative for youth at risk of inpatient hospitalization as a result of difficulty functioning in school, at home or in the community. Time for independent school work, lunch, and other supportive activities such as recreation, art interventions, and psychiatry services are included.

We provide intensive residential treatment to children and teens, ages 6-18, who are experiencing significant mental, emotional and/or behavioral health challenges. The Residential program is structured for youth whose needs and safety concerns require a 24-hour treatment environment. Located on the Center’s 12-acre campus in beautiful San Diego, the residential treatment program provides a safe and inclusive environment focused on comprehensive and individualized services determined by our knowledgeable team in partnership with family and caregivers.

Intensive services in homes and communities to families needing more support using a wraparound model of care. In this program, there is a team of professionals who work with the whole family to provide coaching and therapy multiple times per week.

ECM is a new program available to all Medi-Cal managed care members that provides extra care management services to youth with highly complex needs. A specialized care manager helps the youth and their family access vitally needed medical, behavioral health, dental or other services affecting their overall health and well-being. ECM will also help youth and their families access basic needs in their community, such as housing supports and medically nutritious food.

The Academy is a nonpublic school-accredited by the Western Association of Schools & Colleges (WASC)-specializing in helping students who struggle with mental, emotional and/or behavioral health challenges that have significantly impacted school performance.
